We are happy to share with you our annual review for 2016!

In terms of sustainability, 2016 was an important and successful year for Harold's. After switching to nickel-free hardware and a complete switch to organic cotton in previous years, this year we were able to convert our most important leathers from semi-vegetable to 100% vegetable tanned leathers. This means that for the first time, over 50% of the collection is made up of pure vegetable tanned leathers. In terms of South American products, it is even 70%.

The changeover to purely vegetable-tanned leather proved to be quite complex in cooperation with our partners. In addition to price and quality problems, the main task was to build up trust for the process among the tanners. Another aspect was to ensure the long-term availability of organic tanning mixtures from sustainable cultivation.

In the greening of our materials, we have succeeded in taking a major step in the right direction - the systematic reduction and elimination of chromium in leather. However, this also means that further steps will follow.
