Before using your new leather bag for the first time, there are a few things you should definitely consider in order to enjoy your new favorite accessory for as long as possible. To ensure that your bag remains beautiful for a particularly long time in daily use, we have compiled our most important tips and tricks for bag care for you here.
We use open-pored leather with a few exceptions. The open-pored leather creates a self-care effect of the leather in use, which is caused by friction, light and especially by the sebum of the hands: The bag gets a patina and thus becomes a distinctive individual piece. The patina effect is stronger or weaker depending on the surface finish. Glossy leather (the surface is somewhat closed by a kind of mechanical smoothing) change more slowly,
while completely open-pored leathers show an intense patina effect. The only important thing is to make sure that the leather does not dry out. This happens especially when the bag is not used, is exposed to light for a long time, gets hot (e.g. behind a window pane), or gets wet or knocked off more often during use (corners and edges). Care should then be taken.
The more oily the spray, the more lasting and durable the increased UV protection. However, the change in color is also stronger the more oily the spray is. However, the change decreases again in the course. Please first try the effect of the treatment on a covered area (e.g. the bottom of the bag). Recommendation for use: In general, the rule is less is more.
